Honestly, I didn't even make a purchase or deal with these people in person, but when I called and asked to reserve a truck, the gentleman I spoke with said, "no we can't do that, sorry" and hung up the phone. I don't write a lot of reviews, but I thought this was extremely unprofessional and unhelpful. If anyone needs a truck in short notice, the U-Haul that's on Pembroke Avenue in Hoffman Estates was extremely helpful. They had everything I needed, were professional, and accommodated my needs.
With the price double of Uhaul you would expect a better service. No chance.
OK they did call me a day before to tell me that they don't have the track that I ordered (so I didn't get totally screwed) and told me to call corporate to fix it . So I called corporate call center, talked to an agent that couldn't do anything other then submit a ticket to some department that is responsible for appropriating trucks to locations. He also told me that I will get a call back from that department within 2 hours. Of course they didn't call me back so I called them again after 3 horus. This time I found out the appropriation department is closed for a day and that they will call me first thing in the morning. Of course they didn't call me. Luckily by then I knew better and have reserved a truck with UHaul which was waiting for me, when they said it would.
Zero stars... Okay the guy behind the counter was polite and helpful but the overall service from budget rental is abysmal. Discovered broken turn signals and brake lights while picking up truck . Delayed. Went to pick up different truck after 3 hour delay. It was the same truck. Claimed to be fixed. Jury still out. Now I sit on the side of the road with a broken trailer and roadside assistance can't tell me when they will be able to provide a different trailer. Very rude customer care and inadequate roadside assistance. They even tried to blame me for breaking the trailer. I've reviewed the pictures I took at the origin and you can clearly see where the trailer frame had already been cracked. Avoid this outfit at all costs. I will never rent from Budget again in hopes that they go out of business. Please help me in my endeavor. Lets vote with our feet and crowd UNfund Budget/AVIS.
Can I give 0 stars? It took me over 45 minutes to get the paperwork done bcs the person didnt know what they were doing. On top of that, they billed me $150 for the debit card use (which is oart of the contract) but instead of putting it as a "deposit", they included it as a charge against the truck. Now instead of getting the refund of the $150 in 24-48 hours, I have to wait 5-7 business days for their stupidity? DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AT THIS PLACE
Use them only if you want to move without a truck.
